John Dinan, Artist and Teacher
I'm a professional artist, working and living in the beautiful West of Ireland.
Most of the year I paint either in my studio or 'en plein air'.
In addition, I run a series of painting classes, art workshops or painting lessons - call them what you will - in order to share my experience with others. You'll find details of these on this site
I studied painting on various evening courses at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in the Seventies, as well as with Henry Healy RHA, the late renowned landscape artist and teacher. It is through Healy that I first met my colleagues in Back Lane Painters - they were all Healy's students. I have painted and exhibited with them now for over thirty years.
I have had solo, shared and countless group exhibitions, and am one of the leading exhibitors in many major Irish galleries. I have exhibited in the main Irish annual exhibitions, the Royal Hibernian Academy and the Oireachtas exhibitions. I am a founder member of The Portmarnock Art Group.
